Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Software Developer Level 3 to join a collaborative Agile team responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining complex software systems. This role offers the opportunity to lead technical initiatives, influence system design, support delivery outcomes, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of innovative technology solutions.
As a Software Developer Level 3, you will play a key role in designing and delivering high-quality software solutions. You will provide technical leadership within the development team, contribute to architectural decisions, support continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure software quality through effective testing and review practices.
Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, you will help drive projects from requirements gathering and solution design through to deployment, support, and ongoing system administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance software applications and products.
- Lead software and system design activities, ensuring best practice engineering principles are applied.
- Produce and maintain technical design documentation and supporting artefacts.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to other developers.
- Conduct code reviews and promote high standards of software quality.
- Contribute to testing activities, including unit testing and quality assurance processes.
- Collaborate with Agile/SCRUM teams to achieve sprint objectives and delivery commitments.
- Assist support and integration teams by providing second-level technical support.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across development processes, tools, and practices.
- Ensure compliance with established engineering standards, policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
Qualifications
You are a collaborative and technically capable software engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and working within a team-focused environment. You demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgement, and a genuine passion for technology and software development.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant years of experience in a software development environment.
- Strong experience developing applications using - C++, C# .NET Framework / .NETMicrosoft Visual Studio
- Experience with unit testing frameworks such as NUnit.
- Proficiency with Git version control.
- Experience in relational database design and development.
- Knowledge of multiple software development lifecycle methodologies.
- Experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Microsoft SQL Server development and administration experience.
- Experience with NoSQL technologies, including Elasticsearch.
- Familiarity with Atlassian Jira.
- Experience within Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), industrial control systems, or other integrated engineering environments.
- Exposure to software teams operating within Agile delivery frameworks.
- Experience working with field devices, equipment integration, or real-time operational systems.
