Commercial Revenue Analyst G7 (Temporary Opportunity - up to 11 months)

Transport for NSW
Sydney, NSW, AU, 2020RemoteTemporaryPosted Today

You want to play a part in making NSW a better place to work, live and travel.

You’re called upon to help decision makers identify the options that best match their objectives. This is your opportunity to deliver exceptional services to the people of NSW, create innovative solutions, and foster strong partnerships.

In this role, you'll:

Use data to solve complex commercial problems and help identify opportunities to grow revenue and improve the performance of Transport's commercial assets. Working across a diverse portfolio of initiatives, you will analyse business performance, investigate commercial questions and provide evidence-based insights that support strategic decision-making across the Commercial Revenue team.

Investigate commercial opportunities by analysing financial, operational and customer data to identify revenue drivers, risks and opportunities.
Work on a broad range of analytical projects, applying critical thinking to solve complex business problems where there is often no predefined solution.
Build analytical models, scenario analyses and business cases to evaluate commercial initiatives and support investment decisions.
Develop meaningful performance measures and insights that help stakeholders understand how commercial outcomes can be improved.
Translate complex data into clear, practical recommendations.
Develop reporting, dashboards and analytical tools that support decision-making, while continually improving the way information is presented and used.
Interpret commercial agreements and contractual arrangements to ensure they are accurately reflected in performance analysis and reporting.
Work collaboratively with stakeholders across multiple business areas to understand emerging business questions and deliver high-quality analytical support.

This role is a fixed-term, full-time contract until 2 July 2027 based at 231 Elizabeth Street, with hybrid working arrangements available.

About you

•You enjoy solving business problems using data. You're naturally curious, comfortable working with ambiguity and able to take an open-ended question and determine the best analytical approach to answer it. Rather than simply producing reports, you enjoy understanding what is driving business performance and identifying opportunities to improve commercial outcomes.
•Demonstrated experience in commercial, analytical or business analysis within a large and complex organisation.
•Advanced Excel skills, including experience manipulating large datasets, developing analytical models and solving complex business problems.
•Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to work through ambiguous or incomplete information and produce practical, evidence-based recommendations.
•Experience translating complex analysis into clear insights that support business decision-making.
•Experience developing dashboards or visualisations to communicate performance insights.
•Exposure to SQL or similar analytical tools is desirable, but more importantly, a structured approach to working with data and a willingness to learn new technologies.
•Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
•Relevant tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Economics, Business, Finance, Mathematics, Data Analytics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
