MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Systems Engineer to join our team working in Lexington Park, MD. This is a Hybrid position requiring at least 3 days onsite per week.

The Systems Engineer in this position supports the Aircrew and Combat Effectiveness Assistant Program Manager for Systems Engineering (APMSE). The portfolio includes critical systems that optimize human performance, protection, and sustainment in aviation operations, such as the Improved Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (IJHMQS) for F/A-18 and EA-18 aircraft, next-generation fixed-wing helmets, improved hearing protection, laser eye protection, Enhanced Visual Acuity (EVA), and Night Vision Cueing and Display (NVCD).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Apply programmatic and technical knowledge to identify, formulate, design, and test practical solutions for complex engineering problems.

  • Guide the engineering development and system integration of modern aircrew systems and combat effectiveness technologies.

  • Employ robust systems engineering methods and tools to track, validate, and manage system requirements across the acquisition lifecycle.

  • Coordinate with the Airworthiness and Cybersafe Offices alongside Technical Warrant Holders on Engineering/Data Requirements Agreement Plans (EDRAPs) to secure Flight Clearances.

  • Provide expert systems engineering support for Engineering Investigations, risk management efforts, and technical documentation.

  • Monitor system performance, integration, and airworthiness while ensuring full compliance with Department of Defense acquisition standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.

  • 5+ years of recent engineering or related technical experience

  • Demonstrated hands-on engineering expertise supporting complex hardware, software, or integrated defense systems.

  • Experience working with systems engineering principles and Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with NAVAIR, NAWCAD, and Naval Aircrew Systems program office (PMA-202) operational procedures.

  • Direct experience with NAVAIR airworthiness processes, Flight Clearance documentation, or EDRAPs.

  • Technical background supporting aviation life support systems, aircrew protection, helmet-mounted displays, or electro-optical technologies.

Clearance Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship required and an active or current Secret Security Clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.


The projected compensation range for this position is $98,000.00-$163,100.00.
