Position Purpose

As our Staff Accountant, you will perform intermediate to complex accounting functions while supporting the daily operations of the Banking team. This role is responsible for maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries, supporting audits, and ensuring accurate financial reporting while serving as a resource for accounting-related activities across the organization.

What You’ll Do & How You’ll Make a Difference

• Reconcile general ledger accounts, including prepaids, accruals, assets, liabilities, and other balance sheet accounts

• Research, resolve, document, and correct account discrepancies

• Prepare journal entries, accounting adjustments, and supporting documentation

• Monitor accounting deadlines and ensure timely completion of assigned activities

• Produce quarter-end company consolidations and related financial reporting

• Support year-end audit activities and provide financial information for internal and external auditors

• Review financial information across business units to ensure accuracy and completeness

• Oversee daily Banking team operations and workflow activities

• Review Banking team reconciliations and work product for accuracy and compliance

• Ensure production requirements are completed within quality and service standards

• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities

• Interview, select, evaluate, and recognize team members

• Conduct training and support ongoing team member development

• Coordinate activities and communicate changes with internal departments

• Serve as a resource for Payroll, Accounts Payable, Banking, and other accounting functions

• Research and resolve customer and vendor inquiries

• Prepare spreadsheets, reports, records, analyses, and supporting documentation

• Assist with special projects and additional assignments as needed

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field

• Three (3+) years of related accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Experience with SAP, ERP systems, or related financial software

• CPA preferred

Required Knowledge

• Financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements

• Accounting principles, practices, methods, and procedures

• General ledger accounting and account reconciliation processes

• Microsoft Office Suite applications

• Accounting and financial software systems

• Corporate, state, and federal financial reporting requirements

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to reconcile complex accounts, including prepaids, accruals, assets, and liabilities

• Ability to perform detailed financial analysis and account reconciliations

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

• Ability to identify, document, and resolve discrepancies

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to train, coach, and develop team members

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships

• Ability to present analysis and conclusions using reports, charts, and tables

• Experience using databases, data tables, and queries preferred

Work Environment

Work is performed in a normal business office environment. Occasional travel to outside locations or meetings may be required.
