As an PH Advanced Practice Registered Nurse within the District Two Health Departments. At District Two, Georgia Department of Public Healthyou will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. District 2 Public Health serves 13 counties in northeast Georgia, including Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties. Under general supervision, performs advanced nursing functions and healthcare services in specialized areas. Operates under a written nurse protocol agreement with their delegating physician, conducts complete physicals, provides treatment, and counsels clients. May prescribe medication in some cases.

  • Primary responsibility is to provide LARC services-Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive

  • Under general supervision, performs advanced nursing functions and healthcare services in specialized areas.

  • Operates under written nurse protocol agreement with delegating physician, conducts complete physicals, provides treatment, and counsels clients. 

  • May prescribe medication in some cases
  • Additional Duties for APRN’s (women’s health):

    • Previous public health experience in Women's Health and all other programs, experience with the Georgia BCCP program guidelines,
    • Experience with prenatal exams and OB patients, 
    • Experience with IUD insertions/removals and Nexplanon insertion/removals, experience with Women's Health and STD exams, 
    • Experience and knowledge of Expanded Role and APRN protocols and guidelines for the State of Georgia, written and oral proficiency in English and Spanish, 
    • Previous experience with VHN (Visual Health Net) computer system
    • Sees Family Planning patients for exam and treatments as needed
    • Manages birth control and dispenses following medical guidelines
    • Sees medical patients that may be referred from RNs
    • Does LARCs procedures
    • Sees OB patients with TLC guidance
    • Sees STD patients for exam and treatments as needed
QualificationsMaster's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certification in the specialty area(s) approved by Georgia Board of Nursing and two (2) years of nursing experience and Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse and Georgia license as a APRN and current certification in specialty area and CPR certification; or two (2) years of experience at the lower level PH Advanced Practice RN 1 (HCP200) or position equivalent.

Preferred:
  • Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND Certification in the specialty area(s) approved by Georgia Board of Nursing AND Two years PH experience AND Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND Georgia License as a APRN AND Current certification in specialty area AND CPR certification.
