Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is now hiring a Shipping Manager at our Sheboygan, WI Facility. The Shipping Manager will utilize leadership, logistics experience, and communication to identify and convert change improvement opportunities related to people, process, and systems.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate safety as the primary value and lead a crew of employees to exceed shipping expectations for operations, vendors, and customers. The candidate must be self-driven and demonstrate a commitment to safety, manufacturing excellence, and quality. The Shipping Manager must also possess strong interpersonal communication and technical skills as well as being capable of leading transformation initiatives.

What You Will Do

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of shipping leads and hourly employees to improve individual and overall business performance goals.
  • Foster and develop a culture based on Principled-Based Management (PBM®) with a safety-first culture adhering to corporate and plant policies. 
  • Drive positive customer experience through daily management of On Time In Full (OTIF) metric and customer delivery expectations.
  • Develop daily shipping plans to support plant operations and optimize local dedicated carrier utilization to mitigate freight costs. 
  • Manage warehouse inventories with a focus on aged inventory management and unit organization.
  • Manage dedicated carrier truck fleet and trailer pool.
  • Evaluate deliveries, shipments, and product levels to improve inventory processes.
  • Proactively manage forklift fleet with local and contract maintenance departments.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience managing logistics processes and customer relationships
  • Experience in a shipping/warehouse management role and/or a manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience supervising in a shipping/warehouse management role and/or a manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, systems engineering, supply chain management or similar
  • Experience working in the corrugated packaging/containerboard industry on a corrugator OR in a converting operation
  • Experience with computerized inventory systems
  • Experience with TOPS, PCS, FFF, & KIWI
