 YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE: 

Reporting to the Superintendent, Energy, and Infrastructure, you will be part of the Energy and Infrastructure Department. You will be accountable for the safe, reliable, and efficient execution of all electrical activities, including instrumentation and control systems, power distribution, underground infrastructure, construction projects, and engineering support. You will be responsible for building and sustaining a high-performing organization that prioritizes health and safety, reliability excellence, risk management, quality workmanship, operational discipline, and employee development. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment. 

 

  • Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, company standards, and best practices.  

  • Ensure departmental policies, procedures, and work practices comply with the Nunavut Mine Act and are consistently applied.  

  • Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of Agnico Eagle's supervision and leadership framework.  

  • Optimize the coordination and execution of daily maintenance and construction activities to maximize productivity and resource utilization.  

  • Lead the weekly planning and scheduling process, ensuring alignment between maintenance priorities, operational requirements, and available resources.  

  • Collaborate with supervisors and planners to evaluate, prioritize, and execute work orders in accordance with business objectives and risk considerations.  

  • Ensure maintenance activities support equipment reliability and availability targets while minimizing operational disruptions.  

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, reliability, and overall maintenance performance.  

  • Support the development and execution of long-term departmental strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.  

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to supervisors and employees, fostering engagement, accountability, and career development.  

  • Support the development of departmental budgets, performance targets, workforce plans, and resource requirements.  

  • Partner with engineering and technical teams to develop long-term asset management strategies and evaluate emerging technologies.  

  • Lead and support the implementation of automation, digitalization, and innovation initiatives that enhance operational performance.  

  • Remove organizational barriers and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment on priorities and deliver sustainable results.  

  • Monitor departmental performance against key performance indicators and drive corrective actions where necessary. 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED 
  • Diploma, trade certification, technology diploma, or degree in an electrical discipline (Engineering, Electrical Technology, Red Seal Electrician, or equivalent).  

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in an electrical maintenance environment, including significant leadership responsibilities.  

  • Previous underground mining experience is considered a strong asset.  

  • Knowledge and experience with industrial automation and control systems is considered an asset.  

  • Strong understanding of maintenance and reliability principles, asset management, planning and scheduling processes, and construction standards.  

  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities with a focus on driving accountability and results.  

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.  

  • Proven experience leading continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.  

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to perform effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.  

  • Experience working within multicultural and remote work environments.  

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.  

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 

 

Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English. 

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;  

  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
