Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Quality Assurance & Test Manager to lead quality engineering, testing strategy and release assurance across a major enterprise transformation program.

The opportunity

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for establishing and driving an enterprise-quality approach across multiple delivery streams within a complex, highly regulated environment.

You'll lead end-to-end testing and quality assurance across business and technology initiatives, ensuring solutions are delivered safely, reliably and with confidence. Working within a scaled Agile environment, you'll partner closely with Product Owners, Architects, Engineering Managers, delivery leaders, business stakeholders and external vendors to embed quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.

This is an opportunity to shape testing and quality practices from the ground up, champion automation and AI-enabled quality engineering, and build a high-performing quality capability that supports meaningful outcomes for Australian consumers and small businesses.

This is initially a 12-month max-term contract opportunity

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and lead the quality assurance, test management and quality engineering strategy across a major transformation program.
  • Drive end-to-end testing across Agile Release Trains and value streams, ensuring quality is embedded from planning through to production deployment.
  • Champion modern practices including Behaviour Driven Development (BDD), Three Amigos, Specification by Example and continuous testing.
  • Lead test automation strategy, frameworks, tooling and CI/CD integration.
  • Oversee functional, integration, API, performance, security, accessibility, resilience and business acceptance testing.
  • Provide independent assurance over system integrators, SaaS vendors and third-party delivery partners.
  • Lead defect management, quality risk assessments and release readiness governance.
  • Establish meaningful quality metrics, dashboards and reporting for senior stakeholders.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing Quality Engineering team while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience leading quality assurance, test management or quality engineering functions within large-scale enterprise transformation programs.
  • Proven success delivering end-to-end testing across technical, functional, non-functional and business acceptance testing in complex, regulated environments.
  • Strong experience working within SAFe, Scaled Agile or comparable delivery frameworks.
  • Deep expertise in modern Quality Engineering practices including BDD, Specification by Example, Three Amigos, continuous testing, DevSecOps, risk-based testing, shift-left testing and automated quality gates.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of test management, defect and traceability tooling, including workflow design, reporting and dashboards.
  • Practical experience with test automation strategy and implementation, including modern automation frameworks, API automation and integration with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrated capability managing vendor and systems integrator testing outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of non-functional testing, including performance, security, accessibility and operational readiness.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the confidence to influence senior leaders, technology teams and delivery partners.
  • Experience within financial services or another highly regulated environment will be highly regarded.

Additional Information

  • Gold AWEI Accreditation 2025 – Recognised for LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion.
  • Accredited Family Friendly Workplace – Supporting work-life balance and inclusivity.
  • Hybrid working – Flexible arrangements with two days a week in our modern offices designed for collaboration and wellbeing.
  • Additional and inclusive leave options – Flexible public holidays, gender affirmation leave, women’s health leave, and bonus paid time off over the end of year holiday period.
