SummaryThe Administrative Services Officer  3 - Console Operator shall serve as professional support of that unit and be directly accountable to the Sergeant of that section for the proper administration, general management, and control of all matters related to the operation of that unit and be generally governed by the same duties and rules and regulations applicable to any other ASO3 of the department.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is a 24/7/365 operation. Applicants must be available to work a variety of shifts to accommodate various departmental needs and serve in an on-call capacity, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Examples of duties

• The Community Safety Center is responsible for providing support to patrol and investigative units by monitoring the calls for service by utilizing technology.  
• The applicant assigned to this unit will provide support for Transit Division, patrol elements, investigative units, special events and law enforcement partners.
• The applicant assigned to this unit shall coordinate information sharing across numerous platforms, ranks, and divisions.  
• To build good relationships and provide real time investigative support to members of the MNPD Transit Division, patrol elements, investigative units, and law enforcement partners. 
• The applicant assigned to this unit will also provide support to major and special events.
• The applicant must have the ability to take on special projects, to be proactive regarding current and future technology needs and be prepared to assist various investigative elements.
• The applicant assigned to this unit shall be able to perform public speaking assignments in the community, teach in-service or recruit training classes, or similar engagements when required. This includes tours of the Community Safety Center.
• The applicant must be proactive and highly motivated.
• Applicants will be required to have knowledge of appropriate laws and procedures.
• Evaluate incoming CAD information to detect emerging crime patterns or other significant events.
• Conduct investigative research for critical incidents and coordinate the sharing of information with on scene personnel.
• Relay information between police officers, dispatch, specialized units, and command staff by phone, radio, email, and other communication tools.

QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree plus one (1) year experience in law enforcement, military, security, emergency preparedness, or public safety in a patrol, investigatory, dispatch, technical or similar support capacity sufficient to gain a basic familiarity with law enforcement functions and operations.

****Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education. (1:1 Ratio)****
