SummaryThe Dougherty County Administration Department is hiring for an Assistant County Administrator. The purpose of this position is to assist the County Administrator in the daily operations of County operations and assist in the development, implementation and direction of policies, plans and programs. This class formulates long-range goals for the organization, develop policy and position papers and negotiate with the chief administrative officer and/or elected officials. Examples of duties• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. • Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed. • Assists in the preparation of the annual budget. • Manages the planning, financing and allocation of equitable resources to maintain existing and newly developed community infrastructures. • Coordinates risk management activities and serve as the County's Risk Manager and ADA Coordinator. • Serves on the Safety Committee and various other special committees as directed by the County Administrator. • Collaborates with the Technology and Communications (TAC) Department to direct the County's technology and telecommunication needs. • Coordinates State and Federal grant activities. • Serves as Chief Administrative Officer in the absence of the County Administrator. • Develops and manages the County's SPLOST and TSPLOST projects. • Performs related work as assigned. Qualifications• Bachelor’s Degree in Public or Business Administration, Urban Management or related major. • Eight (8) years of municipal government of which three (3) must be in a supervisory or management position or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Supplemental informationPhysical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
