EJ has an immediate opening for a 3rd Shift Melt Crane Operator starting at $21.50 per hour with an additional $1.50 shift premium.

SUMMARY Responsible for the daily operation of the 8-ton scrap crane used in the casting process by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Safely operate and maintain the 8-ton scrap crane with attached magnet while riding in the cab of the crane.

- Pick up specified material with the crane and magnet from material bins and place them in specified charge conveyors.

- Unload railcars with the crane and magnet and place them in specified scrap bins. Transfer material from bins to railcars for future storage.

- Must be able to communicate effectively by two-way radio and operate a panel view screen with the charge recipes listed.

- Inspect and evaluate acceptable scrap material in trucks before unloading.

- Operates industrial front in loader to move metallics around as needed as well as railcars with the attached railcar mover.

- Operates industrial crane to hoist equipment onto deck and furnace as needed, during refractory repairs.

- Operates forklift when needed to transport supplies and equipment.

- Assist in the repairs of refractory lining utilizing air hammers and pneumatic rammers.

- Obtain and maintain Industrial Powered Equipment License

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

The position involves active work including frequent sitting for considerable lengths of time, standing, walking, climbing a ladder, working from a platform, and reaching with hands and arms. Gross manipulation, lifting, stooping, speaking, and hearing, routine lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 50 lbs. Occasional lifting/reaching overhead are required in this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires the appropriate personal protective equipment to be worn.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is normally sitting in an air-conditioned/heated crane cab. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
