Applications are now open for the Hancock Iron Ore FY27 Apprenticeship Program.

This program provides an opportunity for motivated individuals to commence a structured trade pathway within one of Australia’s leading iron ore businesses. Designed to build capability for the future, the Apprenticeship Program combines formal training with practical, hands-on workplace experience across our operations.

We are seeking people who are safety-focused, eager to learn and committed to developing a long-term career in the resources industry.

 

About the Program

The Hancock Iron Ore Apprenticeship Program is a structured development pathway that supports apprentices to gain nationally recognised trade qualifications while developing practical skills in a mining and operational environment.

The program is designed to support apprentices in becoming skilled, confident and capable tradespeople who can contribute to Hancock Iron Ore’s future workforce needs. Apprentices will be supported through:

  • On-the-job training and meaningful workplace exposure
  • Formalised training through a recognised RTO
  • Rotation opportunities across relevant trade discipline applicable work areas
  • Mentoring and guidance from experienced tradespeople, supervisors and the Talent & Career Team
  • Ongoing progress reviews and development
  • Access to workplace systems, tools and processes that support competency development
  • A strong focus on safety, teamwork, personal accountability and career growth

Applicants should be prepared to undertake both practical workplace training and formal block training as required throughout the apprenticeship.

  • Apprentice Maintainer Auto Electrical
  • Apprentice Maintainer Electrical
  • Apprentice Maintainer Light Vehicle Mechanic
  • Apprentice Maintainer Diesel Fitter (Mobile Plant)
  • Apprentice Maintainer Fitter Mechanical (Fixed Plant)
  • Apprentice Maintainer Refrigeration Mechanic
  • Apprentice Maintainer Boilermaker (Fabrication)
  • Trade Up Opportunity

 

What You Can Expect

Successful candidates will join a structured apprenticeship pathway, supported by Hancock Iron Ore leaders, mentors and the Talent & Career Pathways Team.

 

Throughout the program, apprentices will be expected to:

  • Attend all required workplace training, inductions and formal training blocks
  • Actively participate in safety, health and environmental requirements
  • Gather and submit workplace evidence through the required electronic logbook system
  • Take ownership of their development and progress
  • Demonstrate professional and respectful behaviours at all times
  • Work diligently towards achieving competency across all required units of their qualification
  • Rotate through various operational areas

  • Verification of relevant licences or qualifications
