Project Overview:

The Project is a greenfield mining, process, material handling and ship loading project with a focus on sustaining production, minimise environmental impacts, strengthen long-term relationships with neighbouring communities and foster local economic development.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will assist in interpreting and integrating environmental, health and safety requirements into project planning, design, construction, and operations. You will provide input and technical guidance, assist with communications, track performance trends, and conduct inspections and monitoring. Your work will help keep employees safe by contributing to continuous improvement of project health and safety. 

 

This role is offered on a FIFO 2:1 roster to Weipa, QLD. Local applicants encouraged to apply.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates a wide variety of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) disciplines to facilitate implementation of Bechtel's ES&H program and ES&H Management System, including aiding compliance with Bechtel's ES&H standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and contractual commitments 
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities 
  • Maintains ES&H databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions 
  • Performs statistical analysis of ES&H data to identify performance trends and contributing factors as part of continuous improvement and makes recommendations accordingly 
  • Identifies and coordinates unique software systems and electronic innovation used by ES&H personnel 
  • Prepares communications, writes reports, and prepares documents for program execution and records retention 
  • Coordinates incident notifications, leads investigations, and prepares incident investigation reports 
  • Recommends and implements improvements in processes, procedures, and work activities to minimize hazard potential  
  • Participates in and may lead employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs 
  • Establish, promote and monitor work practices that maintain health and safety, control risk and comply with legislative responsibilities in complex correctional environments. 
  • Provides support to ES&H field and office personnel, inclusive of all ES&H disciplines 
  • Conduct and review risk assessments including SWMS, JHAs and other Work Health and Safety Management Plans / procedures to ensure appropriate implementation of the ES&H management system. 
  • Develop strong and effective relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders. 
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A degree or relevant post-graduate qualification in health and safety experience with the profession; or at least 10 years health and safety experience in major construction project work  
  • Experience leading incident investigations using causal analysis framework such as ICAM or Taproot  
  • Must have eligibility to work in Australia  
  • Must be able to undertake a pre-employment medical 
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficiency in assisting construction with development of risk assessments and associated job hazard analysis.
  • Intermediate knowledge and use of Microsoft software applications.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Be solution orientated with effective and efficient time management to deliver a quality product.
  • Proficiency in assisting construction with development of risk assessments and associated job hazard analysis.
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment.
