The Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) performs functions of the state relative to the examination and licensing of operators of motor vehicles, the suspension and revocation of such licenses, issuance of vehicle title and registration certificates, license plates for all motor vehicles operated upon the highways of the state, recordation of liens against vehicles, and the collection of sales/use tax and other appropriate fees, all in accordance with applicable laws.

This position for Motor Vehicle Compliance Analyst 1, 2, or 3 serves within the Reinstatement Unit at the Headquarters located in Baton Rouge. Attention to detail, general writing and math skills, and willingness to work and communicate with a small group, as well as aiding other OMV offices or sections and the public, are key to success in this role. 

Examples of duties

Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
May be required to possess a current Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment.

Supplemental information

Job Duties:  

  • Answer telephone calls to process multiple transactions on-line to update Driver’s License, Motor Vehicle and Driver Management records utilizing several computer systems and data sessions. Suspends, disqualifies, revokes or reinstates driving and registering/titling privileges.

  • Evaluates compliance documents, reinstatement fees, surrendered driver's licenses, license plates, and registrations related to suspensions and revocations.

  • Evaluates complex cases involving multiple suspensions, revocations, and compliance requirements. Determines reinstatement eligibility and fees while outlining the actions necessary to restore driving and registration privileges.

  • Provides accurate information to customers regarding suspensions, revocations, reinstatement requirements, applicable laws, and fees.

  • Calculates, collects, balances, and accounts for reinstatement and regulatory fees while maintaining accountability for all funds received.

  • Exercises independent judgment when resolving customer issues, interpreting laws and departmental policies, and ensuring compliance with the Federal Driver Privacy Protection Act by safeguarding confidential driving records.

  • Interprets policies, procedures, statutes, and legislative changes affecting operations.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Motor Vehicle Compliance Analyst 1, 2, or 3, depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Compensation: This position is eligible for premium pay of up to $2.00 per hour.
