The Prince George’s County Police Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Video Evidence Administrator (Public Safety Audio & Video Rec Technician) grade P21 position, in the Information Technology Division.


About the Position 

This is an entry-level professional, technical, and administrative position focused on supporting the implementation and management of the Police Department’s video evidence program. Duties may include inventory tracking, training employees, maintaining custody of evidentiary audio/video recordings, responding to inquiries, reviewing and redacting digital evidence and duplicating media for trial support or discovery. Additionally, the incumbent may be responsible for equipment maintenance, and assisting with the selection, research, and testing of new or updated hardware and software. In this role, the incumbent will act as a vital liaison between internal Divisions/Districts, management, and external solution providers.  The incumbent will work under close supervision from a higher-level Project Coordinator or designated supervisor, and is evaluated in terms of accuracy, completeness, and adherence to policies and procedures.

Today, the Prince George's County Police Department serves over 900,000 residents and has an authorized strength of 1800 officers and 300 civilians. Examples of duties
  • Tracks inventory and manage lifecycles for video evidence assets.
  • Maintains custody of audio/video recordings and handle duplication for trials.
  • Reviews and redacts digital evidence.
  • Serves as a contact point between county agencies and technology vendors.
  • Assists with software/hardware testing and employee training. 
  • Performs tasks and duties willingly and cooperatively which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee’s class of work.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications 

Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications listed below to be eligible for additional consideration:  

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two (2) years of experience utilizing audio and video recording equipment to edit and extract data
Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered.

Conditions of Employment:  Upon selection, the candidate must (where applicable):

  • Be willing to work adjust work schedule to include working Saturdays and Sundays when required.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.  
  • Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties. 
  • Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings. 
  • Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
