SummaryTogether with the Director of Facilities is responsible for the supervision and administration of facility projects and related activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervises district-wide minor projects and other construction related projects.
- Develops material, labor, and total cost estimates for assigned projects.
- Prepares schematic, preliminary and final contract construction drawings and bid specifications for projects.
- Coordinates assigned facilities projects from inception through completion.
- Responsible for ensuring that all projects are properly permitted and documented. This includes tracking all minor repairs performed under the College’s annual maintenance permit.
- Advises the Executive Director, Facilities and the College administration on plans for the construction, renovation, remodeling, or demolition of educational or ancillary facilities.
- Works with architects and contractors to reduce cost of projects by assuring complete and coordinated plans and specifications.
- Participates in all pre-bid conferences with prospective bidders for all assigned projects.
- Reviews all project communications (Requests for Information, shop drawings, requests for construction change order directives / change orders, pay requests, etc.) and recommends to the Executive Director, Facilities action to be taken.
- Observes work in progress on a daily schedule (when feasible) at all project sites noting, recording and reporting the activities of the contractor and other personnel associated with the project.
- Coordinates with Senior Campus Directors, Director of Plant Operations, Plant Managers and College employees and other organizations during project phases.
- Coordinates all warranty work between contractors, subcontractors and College maintenance departments.
- Ensures periodic updating of facility drawings / floor plans and maintains inventory of project manuals, operations and maintenance manuals and construction warranties.
- Responsible for monitoring projects during duty and non-duty hours as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in building construction, architecture, engineering, or related field from a regionally accredited institution with two (2) years of experience in building design, construction project management, contract review/administration
OR
- An Associate’s Degree in building construction or related field from a regionally accredited institution with four (4) years of experience in building design, construction project management, contract review / administration
OR
- Standard High School Diploma with eight (8) years of experience in the previously described areas required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of Florida Building Codes
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders and perform inspections of assigned projects
- Satisfactory back X-ray required
- Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record
