The employee is supervised by the Nutrition Coordinator. This position is responsible for assisting with preparing daily meals, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks, for Head Start children, staff, and parent volunteers. Examples of duties

• Assists with overall food preparation.
• Assists with cleaning and maintaining the kitchen area.
• Follows all local, state, and federal hygiene and safety standards.
• Packs food and utensils in transportation containers.
• Maintains a daily food inventory count.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
• Ability to read and understand menus and food preparation instructions.
• Ability to maintain the physical and mental capacity required to perform job duties effectively.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers.
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism and good moral character.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language. 

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Must have at least one ( 1 ) year of working experience in food preparation in a restaurant or school setting.
• Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.

Other Requirements/Information

• Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license.
• The Webb County Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this position. Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and a criminal background check are required.
• This position is not covered under Civil Service; however, all other Webb County policies apply.
