AECOM is seeking a high calibre Growth Director to lead the commercial growth of AI4Eng across Australia and New Zealand.
AI4Eng is AECOM’s proprietary engineering technology, embedding artificial intelligence directly into the design and delivery process. It has the potential to materially change how engineering services are developed, delivered and experienced by our clients.
This is not a traditional business development role. It is an opportunity to build and scale a new AI enabled engineering business, backed by the reach, technical capability and client relationships of one of the world’s leading infrastructure consulting firms.
As Growth Director, you will create the market for AI4Eng. You will identify and originate opportunities, develop relationships with senior clients, shape compelling commercial propositions and convert early engagement into sustained revenue growth.
Why This Role Matters
AI4Eng is one of AECOM’s most significant growth initiatives and a critical part of our ambition to lead the next generation of engineering services.
You will operate with an entrepreneurial mandate inside a Fortune 500 company, with the opportunity to influence the product, the client experience and the strategy for market expansion.
Initially focused on the Commercial and Residential sectors, you will establish AI4Eng as a genuine market differentiator across Australia and New Zealand. You will work closely with clients, engineers, digital specialists and global technology teams to turn a powerful technology platform into a scalable and commercially successful business.
This role will suit a growth leader who is comfortable creating something new, challenging established approaches and translating emerging technology into clear value for clients.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the ANZ AI4Eng growth strategy, ensuring alignment with the broader Buildings + Places business plan and global AI4Eng strategy.
- Identify emerging market opportunities and client priorities, using these insights to inform strategic direction and accelerate market adoption of AI-enabled services.
- Establish AI4Eng as a strategic market differentiator, influencing the company’s positioning in the competitive landscape.
Growth and Commercial Performance:
- Achieve and exceed agreed bookings, revenue, and profitability targets for the AI4Eng business, specifically within Building Engineering market sectors.
- Collaborate with the AI4Eng Commercial/Operations Director to scale operations and refine service offerings.
- Develop go-to-market strategies and lead strategic pursuits for major client engagements associated with AI4Eng opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate business performance metrics, making data-driven decisions to enhance productivity and return on investment.
Client and Market Leadership:
- Build and maintain trusted executive-level relationships with AECOM’s core Tier 1 clients, positioning the company as their preferred partner for digitally enabled engineering and design services.
- Represent AECOM at industry events, conferences, and strategic client forums, showcasing thought leadership and innovation in AI-enabled engineering.
- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships that enhance market penetration and capability, contributing to long-term client relationships.
Leadership and People Development:
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing multidisciplinary AI4Eng team, creating a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Inspire and influence teams across the broader Buildings + Places business to adopt new technologies and innovative ways of working.
- Collaborate with Sector Directors, City Leaders, and technical leaders to mobilize resources and deliver exceptional client outcomes.
Technology and Transformation Leadership:
- Champion the integration of AI4Eng across the Buildings + Places sector, driving innovation and challenging traditional engineering delivery models.
- Collaborate with global AI4Eng teams to enhance product capability, delivery processes, and market relevance.
- Participate in global strategy workshops and governance forums, providing insights on market opportunities and strategic direction.
