SummaryThe Prep Cook will assist with food preparation and maintaining a sanitized kitchen facility. Examples of duties

1. Prepare meats, vegetables, fruits, etc. to be cooked.
2. Assist in coordinating daily food portioning and preparation.
3. Clean and sanitize work areas such as kitchen, refrigerator, and light dishes.
4. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.

QualificationsKnowledge of:

• Health and food handling regulation;
• Food safety and proper storage;
• Preparation of various food items;
• Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.

Skills and Abilities:

• Follow written and verbal instruction;
• Maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public;
• Lift heavy materials up to 25 pounds;
• Handle equipment apparatus used for cutting, chopping, slicing of foods;
• Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;
• Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.

Supplemental informationHigh School Diploma, or GED and three (3) years of cooking experience

• TB Screening;
• Age 55 and over preferred;
• Must have a Food Handler Card or obtain a card within six (6) months of hire;
• Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License.

Special Requirements:

• Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card or be able to obtain the Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance will result in termination from this position.
