Head of People & Culture, DACH
Ambu is looking for a Head of People & Culture (P&C) to support our sales offices in Bad Nauheim, Germany, and Zurich, Switzerland, as well as our Innovation Centre in Augsburg.
This is a newly established role based out of our office in Bad Nauheim, close to Frankfurt, reporting directly to the Global P&C Director, EMEA & APAC. While the reporting line is global, the role works closely with local leadership teams across all DACH locations.
The position spans both operational excellence and strategic impact. You will drive key People & Culture initiatives in close collaboration with regional VPs and leadership teams, including employee engagement, talent management, and leadership development. As a trusted advisor, you will support leaders in building high-performing teams and strengthening organisational capability.
In addition, you will lead two P&C Specialists, one based in Augsburg and one in Bad Nauheim, providing guidance, development, and day-to-day leadership.
You will also ensure that local P&C practices comply with relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines. While being part of a strong, international P&C community, you will have full ownership of the P&C agenda across your region.
Key responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Full P&C ownership for Germany and Switzerland
- Lead two P&C Specialists, one in Augsburg and one in Bad Nauheim
- Regional ownership and follow-up on the global annual HR wheel and driving alignment and initiatives to meet business objectives (e.g., recruitment, talent management, employee and leadership development, workers council collaboration, P&C administration, tracking of P&C budget, annual P&C processes, etc.)
- Drive cross company culture initiatives in the countries, in collaboration with the leadership teams, by shaping and driving the people agenda and creating a positive employee experience through embedded P&C initiatives, change management and communication
- Work closely with the global Centres of Excellence and Global P&C Directors to ensure consistent implementation of P&C Initiatives
- Act as the P&C sparring partner on all P&C-related topics to the regional leadership teams
- Lead and drive local business transformation from a P&C perspective to increase organisational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with all layers of governance (federal, state, and local employment and labour laws) as well as aligning towards company strategy, benefits, and culture
- Driver continuous improvement and standardisation across the country when it comes to benefits, systems, practices, processes, tools, and contracts
Suggested candidate profile
We are looking for an experienced P&C professional who can drive the P&C function efficiently with focus on details and a great ability to prioritise tasks as well as being a strategic sparring partner to the business. You enjoy creating structure and are motivated by having to manage multiple tasks from A-Z. You easily navigate between taking a holistic view and support strategic decisions as well as the growth strategy, to focus on more detailed tasks such as managing payroll matters, issuing employment contracts etc.
- Strong experience in People & Culture business partnering
- Solid knowledge of German and Swiss employment law
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across regions and functions
- Proven ability to negotiate and manage sensitive P&C matters
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, develop effective solutions, and proactively implement preventive actions, particularly in complex situations
- Experience translating global strategies into effective regional execution
- Familiarity with SuccessFactors or similar HR systems
- Fluent in German and English
