Position Overview:
The Diving Supervisor will oversee all underwater diving operations , including welding, NDT (Non-Destructive Testing), inspections, and repairs on marine structures (pipelines, jetties, offshore platforms, etc.) for an EPC project in Qatar. The role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant diving operations in accordance with IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association) standards and Qatari regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
â Dive Operations Management
· Plan, supervise, and execute underwater welding, cutting, NDT (UT, MPI, DPI), and repair works .
· Ensure compliance with IMCA, ADCI, or equivalent diving safety standards .
· Manage dive teams (divers, tenders, inspectors) and diving equipment (saturation, surface-supplied, or air diving systems).
â Safety & Compliance
· Conduct pre-dive briefings, risk assessments (JSA), and emergency drills .
· Monitor dive logs, decompression procedures, and gas mixtures .
· Ensure adherence to Qatar Ministry of Labor, QHSE, and client-specific safety protocols .
â Technical Oversight
· Review welding procedures (AWS D3.6M for underwater welding) and NDT reports.
· Coordinate with marine engineers, NDT inspectors, and client representatives .
· Supervise ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) inspections if required.
â Reporting & Documentation
· Maintain dive logs, incident reports, and inspection records .
· Provide daily progress updates to the Marine Construction Manager .
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
· Certification: IMCA Diving Supervisor (Air/Saturation) or ADCI equivalent .
· Underwater Welding: Certified per AWS D3.6M Class A or B .
· NDT Certifications: ASNT Level II (UT, MPI, DPI) or equivalent.
· Experience:
o 10+ years in commercial diving (oil & gas, marine construction).
o 5+ years as a Diving Supervisor on EPC projects.
o Middle East/GCC experience (preferred, but not mandatory).
· Medical Fitness: IMCA-approved diving medical (e.g., DMAC, UKOOA) .
