Job Title: Assistant Electrician – Offshore Jackup Rig Location: Offshore Qatar (North Field Expansion, Halul Island, or Contracted Rigs) Employment Type: Rotational (42/ 21) Reporting To: Chief Electrician / Electrical Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical System Support
· Assist in maintenance & troubleshooting of:
o HV/LV switchgear (Siemens, ABB)
o Drilling equipment circuits (VFDs, top drives, drawworks)
o Emergency systems (UPS, batteries, lighting)
o Jacking system controls (PLC panels, motor starters)
2. Preventive Maintenance
· Perform thermal imaging checks on electrical panels
· Conduct insulation resistance tests on motors/cables
· Replace contactors, relays, and breakers
3. Safety & Compliance
· Follow Qatar Energy (QP) electrical safety standards
· Adhere to ATEX/IECEx protocols in hazardous zones
· Implement LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) procedures
4. Emergency Response
· Support blackout recovery and equipment failures
· Participate in electrical fire drills
Requirements
Qualifications & Certifications
Mandatory:
· Diploma in Electrical Engineering or 2+ years offshore experience
· BOSIET/FOET with HUET (Offshore Survival & Helicopter Escape)
· Qatar Ministry of Public Health Medical Certificate
Preferred:
· COMPEX (Ex01-Ex04) for hazardous areas
· HV/LV Switching Certification
· PLC/VFD troubleshooting skills
