tl;dr Fresh off a $15M Series A led by Accel (total funding now $20M+), Agave is profitable, growing fast, and scaling the team. We're hiring a sharp, resourceful generalist to help run the operational backbone of the company — the systems and processes that keep money moving and the business running cleanly as we scale.

Learn more about us here (link).

What is Agave?

We're building the financial ops platform for construction, a $12T global industry run by software built 20-40 years ago, much of it on-prem with no APIs and no documentation.

We spent 3 years building the rails to read and write across those systems, and we use them to deploy AI for invoicing, expenses, compliance, billing, and more.

We have 550+ customers and have been profitable & cashflow positive for over two years. We're backed by Accel and Y Combinator, with investors from Procore, Autodesk, and Plaid. Our three co-founders have worked together for 12+ years, across Graphiq (acquired by Amazon in 2017) and Amazon.

We’ve built something people actually need, in a market most of Silicon Valley ignores — which is exactly why we’re winning. The only thing slowing us down is hiring. Our team is small, scrappy, and high-caliber, and we’re looking for the next wave of builders who will help take Agave from breakout startup to category-defining company.

Why are we hiring this role?

We're growing fast, and the operational surface area of the business is expanding just as quickly. More customers means more invoices to send, more payments to track, more partners to pay, and more processes that can't stay in someone's head or a one-off spreadsheet.

We need someone to own how the business actually runs behind the scenes: making sure money moves accurately and on time, partners are paid correctly, and our external presence stays sharp.

Responsibilities

Own and execute key business operations, including (but not limited to):

  • Revenue operations & finance: be the backbone of how money moves through the company, from invoice to cash to reporting.
    • Own end-to-end customer billing and invoicing through Stripe, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clean handoffs with customers
    • Track customer payments — what's been billed, what's been collected, and what's outstanding — and follow up on anything late
    • Track, reconcile, and report on revenue across all streams (subscriptions, add-ons, partners, and more)
    • Build and maintain lightweight systems so we always have a reliable, up-to-date view of our revenue and cash
    • Managing sales tax compliance through Numeral
    • Own billing email
  • Vendor & Partner Management — make sure partner revenue is tracked, paid, and never a black box
    • Track revenue received from vendors and partners
    • Manage rev-share calculations and payouts to VARs
  • Marketing Operations
    • Manage logistics for conferences, trade shows, and events
    • Own and publish company social media posts
    • Maintain and refresh product assets across the website, marketplace listings, and sales materials
  • Special Projects — take on high-value, loosely scoped projects that need someone who can figure it out without being told how.
    • e.g., we need a new invoicing tool — research the options and propose a solution we can roll out
    • e.g., build a model to evaluate partner API usage across customers
    • e.g., stand up billing and payment reporting that gives leadership a clean weekly view of cash

Requirements

Who you are:

  • Graduate from a top university (e.g. Stanford, Berkeley, Princeton, MIT, etc.) with a strong academic record
  • 1+ years of experience working in operations at a startup OR proven operational experience at a top-tier consulting firm
    • Open to high-slope new grads.
  • Hungry to learn, resourceful, and excited to get hands-on experience at a fast-growing startup
  • Comfortable wearing many hats and figuring things out quickly with limited direction

Must have:

  • Curiosity, hustle, and ability to figure things out quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-orientation and organizational skills
  • Comfortable operating independently and efficiently, with little upfront guidance
  • Desire to learn, experiment, and use data to iterate to better decisions

Nice to have:

  • STEM undergraduate degree
  • Experience with Stripe, billing/revops tooling, or building lightweight automations

This role may be a great fit if…

  • You like being the person who makes the trains run on time. You get satisfaction from turning chaos into a clean system.
  • You're energized by variety. One day it's reconciling revenue, the next it's planning a conference or standing up a new tool, and you like it that way.
  • You're early in your career and want outsized ownership. You'll touch nearly every part of how the business runs, which gives you an unusually broad view and fast growth.
  • You sweat the details.

This role may NOT be for you if…

  • You want a narrow, well-defined lane. The scope here will evolve as we grow — you'll wear many hats and figure things out with limited direction.
  • You want to focus purely on strategy. This role is about execution and ownership of real operational work, not building decks about it.
  • You want a slow ramp. We'll expect you to take real ownership of live processes quickly — invoicing, payments, and partner payouts don't wait.
  • You prefer remote work. We're in-person in San Francisco 5 days/week.

Benefits

  • Healthcare: we cover 90% of your healthcare costs with several plan options.
  • 401k: we match 100% of your contributions, up to 4% of annual salary.
  • Gym: on-site gym with Peloton, squat rack, Tempo, Yoga setup, and more.
  • Visa: we sponsor Visas (H1B, TN, etc.) for candidates who are a good fit!
  • Performance Bonuses: we offer annual performance bonuses when we hit company growth goals, which are a % of your base salary. These are large, meaningful rewards that scale with the amount we grow in a particular year.
  • Relocation Assistance: sizable relocation bonus for folks currently located outside of the Bay Area, and a bonus for anyone (even within the Bay Area) who moves within a 15-minute walk of our office. If you’re moving from another city to the Bay Area, we’ll cover the cost of your 1st month of an Airbnb in San Francisco.
  • Commuter benefits: employees can make pre-tax contributions toward commuting costs, and we’ll cover the full cost of a Muni pass for those using public transit.

In-Person

  • We've built Agave in-person since day 1, and will maintain an in-person culture in San Francisco going forward. We form tighter bonds, build a stronger culture, and move faster since we're all working from one location.
  • Our office is at 101 New Montgomery Street, San Francisco, right near Salesforce Park, coffee shops & restaurants, and a bustling downtown. We believe building in-person is a huge strategic advantage, and we hope you’ll join us.
