 YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE: 

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Energy and Infrastructure, you will be part of the Energy and Infrastructure Department. You will lead a culturally diverse and multi-disciplined service team responsible for the maintenance of surface facilities at the mine site. You will do so by adopting a coaching approach with the team, by setting clear expectations and by building the capacity of the team to deliver on those expectations. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment. 

 

  • Supervise an infrastructure maintenance team including plumbers, building mechanics, carpenters, millwrights, diesel mechanics, water treatment operators, heat/HVAC technicians and laborers; 

  • Oversee maintenance of surface infrastructure including intake vent raise for the underground mine, the heating network for all buildings (HVAC), power plant, potable water and sewage treatment plants, fuel storage and distribution systems, and camp facilities; 

  • Promote safe work practices and environmental stewardship applying and overseeing the principles and practices of the Supervision Formula; 

  • Collaborate on the creation and responsible for execution of the weekly maintenance schedule; 

  • Provide coaching, mentorship and play an active role in the development of leaders and tradespeople; 

  • Build healthy and productive partnerships with all stakeholders; 

  • Oversee execution of the administrative responsibilities of the team (work schedule/vacations, timesheet approval, candidate selection, new employee onboarding, maintain employees’ files, disciplinary files/recovery plans, organize training to ensure it is followed as per company’s policies and procedures); 

  • Ensure compliance with the Mines Act and other relevant codes; 

  • Ensure healthy and productive communication with cross shift. 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED 
  • Relevant skilled trade certificate of qualification and/or engineering degree; 

  • 5 years of experience in a similar role; 

  • Proven ability to manage up to 15 direct reports; 

  • Knowledge of subcontract management is considered an asset; 

  • Experience leading a multi-disciplined team; 

  • Cultural awareness and understanding of work in the Canadian Arctic are considered an asset; 

  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 

 

Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English. 

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;  

  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
