YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:As the Manager, Detour Lake Underground Operations, you will be part of the Mine Underground Operations Department. You will be responsible for the overall leadership, development, and operational readiness of the Detour Lake Underground Project. You are accountable for delivering a safe, economic, and sustainable underground operation through all stages of project development and into production. This includes establishing the operating strategy, workforce plan, infrastructure requirements, governance, risk management framework, and integration model required to support successful underground mining operations. Working across technical, project, and operational functions, the role ensures the underground project is executed in alignment with business objectives and seamlessly integrated with existing Detour Lake operations while maintaining focus on safety, schedule, cost, operational excellence, and long-term value creation. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
Provide visible leadership in support of Agnico Eagle's values, guiding principles, and commitment to safety excellence.
Ensure all project activities are executed in compliance with applicable safety, environmental, regulatory, and corporate standards.
Accountable for the successful planning, development, operational readiness, and transition of the Detour Lake Underground Project from development through to sustainable production.
Establish and execute the strategic roadmap required to safely deliver the underground operation while meeting approved business objectives.
Ensure project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and performance objectives are achieved.
Lead operational readiness planning, ensuring people, processes, systems, equipment, infrastructure, training programs, and operating procedures are established to support future underground production.
Ensure the underground operation is developed to achieve safe, efficient, reliable, and sustainable long-term performance.
Lead the development of long-term underground mining plans, production strategies, workforce requirements, operating budgets, development schedules, infrastructure requirements, and supporting business plans.
Ensure effective integration of underground mining activities with existing Detour Lake operations and regional support functions.
Build, develop, and lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for advancing the underground project and supporting future operations.
Collaborate with Exploration, Technical Services, Construction, Procurement, Environment, HR, IT, Finance, and Operations teams to achieve project objectives.
Serve as the primary operational representative and stakeholder for the Ontario Region regarding the Detour Underground Project.
Provide regular updates, recommendations, and strategic guidance to site, regional, and corporate leadership teams.
Support engagement with regulatory agencies, Indigenous communities, contractors, and external stakeholders as required.
Ensure workforce planning, talent acquisition, succession planning, organizational design, and capability-building activities are developed and executed to support future underground operations.
Minimum 15 years of progressive mining experience, including underground operations, mine management, and project leadership responsibilities.
Demonstrated experience leading major mining projects from development through operational handover.
Strong understanding of underground mining methods, mine planning, project execution, and operational readiness.
Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments.
Strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Knowledge of applicable mining, environmental, and regulatory requirements in Ontario.
Strong strategic, financial, and business acumen with demonstrated experience managing budgets, resources, and operational performance.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to effectively lead through organizational growth, transformation, and change.
Your Work Schedule:
Schedule: 4/3 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;
Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
Compensation Statement
In accordance with applicable legislation, the expected compensation includes base salary and potential bonus opportunity. Your individual pay will reflect your skills and experience while remaining competitive within the local market.
