 YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE: 

Reporting to the Exploration Coordinator, you will be a critical part of the Exploration Department, directly supporting geologists and ensuring smooth operations at the core shack and in the field. Your role will also involve hands-on tasks such as receiving, preparing, and sampling drill cores for the geologists, and supporting activities at the core shack. Your position could also involve drill site inspections, surveying, downhole surveys, and data QAQC. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment. 

 

  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with team members to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow;  

  • Participate in the health & safety meetings and ensure that the environmental and safety protocols are followed on the work sites; 

  • Participate to drill core reception at the core shack; 

  • Conduct drill core sampling and ensure that every QA/QC protocol is properly respected; 

  • Prepare drill core for geologists (core Geotech); 

  • Conduct oriented core re-assembly and orientation lines determination; 

  • Ensure the core shack is always organized and clean; 

  • Support the maintenance of camps, buildings, vehicles, and equipment;   

  • Conduct and train on the use of downhole survey and oriented core instrumentation; 

  • Based on priorities, participate to ice construction programs and ice sheet maintenance (surveys, profiling, ice pad construction); 

  • Based on priorities, conduct environmental and health and safety inspections at drilling sites. 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED 
  • College diploma in mining technology or any other relevant training, combined with at least three years of experience in exploration and/or core shack environments; 

  • A methodological and rigorous approach to work; 

  • Physically capable of manipulating loads of 50+ pounds and walk extended distances in a tundra environment; 

  • Experience working in a multicultural environment; 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a team; 

  • Experience working in a core shack supporting geologists; 

  • Experience with remediation and reclamation work; 

  • Experience working around helicopters and working with external loads is considered an asset; 

  • Surveying experience, familiarity with total station Leica, GPS, and drone operation are considered an asset; 

  • Basic vehicle operator skills such as Snowcat, Challenger, Skid Steer, and more is considered an asset; 

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel. 

 

Note that the official working language at the Hope Bay Project is English. 

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 21 days of work, followed by 21 days for transportation and rest;  

  • Location: Hope Bay Project; 

  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
