The Assistant Director, Residency Programs is responsible for assisting the Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program with outpatient and or inpatient training of resident physicians and medical students in rheumatology and the evaluation of residents. He/She will assist in administration of the residency program under the direction of the Program Director, including ensuring compliance with sponsoring institution, ACGME, and specialty board requirements. He/She will oversee the rheumatology curriculum and provide teaching to trainees on physical exam skills, note writing, and all other aspects of patient care. He/She will provide conference lectures, participate in GME committee meetings, research projects, recruitment, and serve as an advisor to Internal Medicine Residents.
#LI-JS1 QualificationsRequired Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- Graduation from an accredited university with the degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
- Demonstrated excellence in patient care, passion for teaching, research and program leadership.
- Have ongoing clinical activity and knowledge of ACGME Internal Medicine or Family Medicine program requirements and familiarity with ABIM or AFMB requirements.
Required Certification/Registration:
- Board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Licensed to practice Medicine in the state of California (or achieve prior to hire date).
- Eligibility for Medical Staff Appointment at required hospital affiliation (must be achieved prior to hire date).
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Rheumatology
- At least 3 years of experience as a GME faculty member in an Internal Medicine Residency Program or Family Medicine Residency Program, or least or at least 3 years of experience supervising internal medicine residents or family medicine residents as a part of a residency program.
- Experience in research and mentoring of residents' research projects
