ABOUT THIS ROLE:
The successful candidate will serve in an integral role, providing essential support to the men and women of the Prince William County Police Department as the Assistant Police Fleet Coordinator, overseeing a fleet of over 600 vehicles. The person selected for this position will assist with managing all police fleet services, including the selection of vehicles, allocation and assignment, substitution, use and care, and maintenance. The Assistant Fleet Coordinator will conduct analysis on vehicle lifecycles, performance, maintenance, and inventory management, and will make recommendations or assist with the preparation of vehicle budgets, fuel and maintenance budgets, and/or contracts.
The ideal candidate possesses thorough knowledge of inventory control, purchasing, receiving, and distribution procedures, as well as vehicle parts and maintenance. Success in this role requires the ability to effectively manage large inventories of vehicles and equipment, maintain proficiency with computer applications to coordinate and organize data, work independently with minimal supervision, plan and evaluate the work of others, follow complex written and verbal instructions, build and maintain positive working relationships with employees and the public, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of related experience, including working with vehicles and/or inventory.
PREFERENCES:
- Experience conducting analysis on vehicle lifecycles, performance, maintenance, and inventory management.
- Supervisory experience to include planning, assigning, and coordinating work. Empowering subordinates. Completing evaluations on subordinates.
- Experience developing and managing policies and procedures that ensure the effectiveness of fleet operations.
- Experience managing a fleet.
- Experience making recommendations or assisting in the preparation of vehicle replacement budgets, fuel and maintenance budgets, and/or contracts.
- Experience managing a fleet to include vehicle selection, allocation and assignment, substitutions, use and care, and maintenance
- Experience with inventory, asset, or fleet management software or personally created databases.
- Experience with fleet safety, driver safety, training, and crash management.
- Experience using technology to research and create/write presentations and verbally presenting in front of an audience.
- Researching new/emerging technologies and drafting written recommendations.
- Experience in generating surveys to solicit feedback from managed programs.
- Experience in local/state government fleet or private sector fleet.
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
The selected individual will work out of the Central District Police Station located in Manassas, VA, working Monday – Friday, and may occasionally be called out in emergency situations.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must pass the DMV record check.
- Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
- Must be proficient in the operation of motor vehicles.
- Must pass a background investigation and polygraph examination.
STARTING SALARY RANGE:
$83,272.80 - $97,968.00
