SummaryThe lead clerk of the Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts Department will report directly to the Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts Manager. Under general supervision he/she will coordinate workflow within the department, train and track progress of new and existing clerks, assist with reporting and other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Examples of duties- Lead training classes for new and existing employees on the IQS and CPCMS systems.
- Cross train employees between Prothonotary/Clerk of Courts.
- Functions as a lead worker by distributing and explaining work assignments, conducting on the job training, and reviewing output of work unit for adherence to standards.
- Prepare reports and correspondence which require the consolidation of status reports, logs, lists and other statistical and narrative information generated by other employees.
- Review current and create new training materials for department staff and establish metrics to monitor and evaluate performance standards.
- Assist with filing, scanning, and processing all documents related to criminal and civil cases.
- Operates computers, typewriters, copiers, mail processing machines, calculators and other office equipment.
- Builds and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers and the public using principles of good customer service.
- May assist the Manager with other duties assigned to meet workload demands.
- Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices
- Knowledge of intermediate to complex math procedures
- Preferred knowledge of criminal and civil procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of County and Department policies and procedures.
- Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work independently assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and assignments.
- Skill in working within deadlines to complete projects and assignments.
- Skill in assessing, analyzing, identifying and recommending solutions to problems.
- Must be able to meet and interact effectively with co-workers and the general public, and to respond accurately to routine questions/inquiries regarding department operations and procedures.
Supplemental information
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete Criminal History Record checks and Child Abuse Clearances.
- Previous Clerk experience
