SummaryUnder general supervision, performs a variety of clerical and maintenance duties in the Parks and Recreation Division. Work involves providing program information, accepting registrations and payments, reserving tennis courts and monitoring their usage. Employee is also responsible for performing a variety of lawn and facility maintenance duties, including, but not limited to cutting and edging lawns. Employee must exercise initiative and independent judgment in completing assignments. Employee must also exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with program clients and the general public.Provides information, guidance and assistance to the general public regarding the County tennis program.
Processes registrations for tennis lessons, leagues, tournaments and special events; receives registration forms and reviews for accuracy and completeness; confirms attendance of program participants.
Receives payments for fees and provides receipts; documents and balances monetary transactions.
Recognizes and reports safety hazards which may cause injury and/or factors that may lead to accidents.
Coordinates tennis court reservations; accepts reservations and monitors court usage.
Controls daily issuance, care, and maintenance of tennis equipment and supplies.
Examples of dutiesMust be 16 years of age or older.
High School Diploma and 1 to 2 years of experience in tennis instruction, preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
This job is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment checks to include criminal history, and background checks.
QualificationsRequires general knowledge of tennis.
Position is a work as required, no benefits.
Supplemental informationMust be physically able to operate a variety of athletic equipment and machinery including ball machine, tennis rachet, ball hopper, ball basket, etc. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to move continuously for extended periods of time under various weather conditions.
