Lead technology strategy.  Strengthen business performance. Build what comes next.

Abel Womack is seeking a hands-on, strategic Director of Information Technology to lead our IT function and help shape the future of technology across our business. This is a high-impact leadership role for an experienced IT professional who can connect business needs with smart, secure, scalable technology solutions.

As Director of IT, you will partner closely with senior leadership and business teams to develop the IT roadmap, strengthen enterprise systems, advance business intelligence reporting, support digital strategy, and ensure our infrastructure, applications, data, and security practices are aligned with company goals. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both strategy and execution, someone who can lead a team, manage vendors, improve systems, and roll up their sleeves when needed.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain a multi-year IT strategy and roadmap that supports company growth, operational efficiency, and long-term business goals.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the IT team while ensuring the department has the skills, tools, and vendor support needed to meet current and future business needs.
  • Oversee the company’s technology portfolio, including infrastructure, enterprise applications, ERP systems, reporting tools, data warehouses, cybersecurity, telecommunications, mobile devices, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Drive business intelligence and reporting initiatives that provide meaningful insights for decision-making across the organization.
  • Partner with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and other business leaders to deliver technology solutions that improve processes and support digital transformation.
  • Establish IT governance, policies, standards, and decision-making frameworks that support compliance, security, continuity, and accountability.
  • Manage IT planning, budgeting, vendor relationships, technology investments, and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend practical solutions that strengthen performance, reduce risk, and improve the employee and customer experience.

What We’re Looking For

  • A proven IT leader with 10+ years of management experience and the ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution.
  • Strong technical knowledge across enterprise applications, ERP systems, databases, reporting tools, infrastructure, cybersecurity, network administration, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Experience translating business requirements into practical technology solutions that improve efficiency, visibility, and performance.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience with project management, prioritization, documentation, system development methodologies, and vendor management.
  • Advanced data analysis and reporting skills, including SQL query development, performance tuning, MS Access, Crystal Reports, or similar tools.
  • Experience in wholesale distribution, material handling, or a similar operational environment is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field; relevant professional certifications are preferred.
