Job Overview
VINFAST is a pioneering electric vehicle company committed to delivering innovative, sustainable mobility solutions. As CMF Manager, you will lead the Color, Material & Finish (CMF) organization to create distinctive, production-ready CMF strategies that strengthen the VinFast brand across global markets.
The role is responsible for managing two key functions:
- CMF Lead Design Team – responsible for exterior CMF theme development and execution of approved CMF proposals into production specifications.
- Design Quality Team – responsible for design quality governance including Grain Mapping, TGSS, OKTG and AAR activities throughout the vehicle development process.
Working closely with Styling, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Suppliers, the CMF Manager ensures design intent, manufacturability and quality standards are achieved from concept through production.
Responsibilities and tasks
- Develop and maintain the overall CMF Strategy across all VinFast brands, ensuring clear brand differentiation, portfolio consistency and long-term design direction.
- Define and lead the overall CMF strategy for vehicle programs, ensuring alignment with VinFast brand identity and market requirements.
- Manage the CMF Lead Design team to develop innovative CMF concepts and successfully deliver approved CMF designs into production.
- Manage the Design Quality team to ensure high-quality execution of Grain Mapping, TGSS, OKTG and AAR activities throughout vehicle development.
- Establish CMF development standards, specifications and release processes to ensure consistency across all programs.
- Drive technical convergence between Styling, Engineering, Manufacturing and Suppliers to achieve the optimal balance between CMF design intent, technical feasibility, quality, cost and program timing.
- Develop team capability, allocate resources and continuously improve CMF development and Design Quality processes.
- Benchmark industry trends, materials, finishes and manufacturing technologies to maintain VinFast's design competitiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Materials Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Automotive CMF, Vehicle Design or Studio Engineering, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of automotive materials, coatings, finishes, textures, grains and manufacturing processes.
- Practical experience in CMF development from concept through mass production.
- Good understanding of automotive Design Quality activities, specifically Grain Mapping, TGSS, OKTG and AAR.
- Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Experience working with global suppliers and external design partners.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.Ability to lead multicultural teams and manage multiple vehicle programs simultaneously.
- Proactive, strategic mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
