The University of Maine Farmington (UMF) is searching for a dedicated, energetic Assistant Coach for our Men’s and Women’s Track & Field teams.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist the Head Coach with practices, competitions, and strategy
- Coach athletes in both training and meets—indoor and outdoor
- Scout, recruit, and build relationships with prospective student-athletes
- Contribute to strength & conditioning, film analysis, and daily operations
- Serve as a supportive mentor and role model, ensuring NCAA and NAC compliance

This position is part-time/temp appointment and pays a $6,000 stipend
Typical calendar: September 15 - May 15
Essential Duties
- Participates in competitions and practices, including the organization and implementation of daily practices for our indoor and outdoor seasons.
- Coaches in competition and training.
- Prepares film breakdowns and analyses; presents the analysis to team members.
- Plans and prepares for competition and training.
- Assists in organizing team travel and meals.
- Assists with scouting, recruitment, and strategy development. Supports player and leadership development.
- Contributes to strength and conditioning programs, including one-on-one strength and conditioning work with student-athletes.
- Provides support and encouragement to student-athletes.
- Understands NCAA and North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rules, compliance, and bylaws.
- Ensures the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
- Serves as an effective role model for college-age students.
- Assists with the day-to-day operations of the Track and Field program.
- Attends and participates in department trainings.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with the skills of track and field related to any of the following disciplines, not limited to: distance events, sprints, hurdles, or jump events
- Valid driver's license (in good standing, based on UMS standards)
- Availability for practices and weekend competitive schedule
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Collegiate competitive experience/coaching
- Sports recruiting experience
