The Support and Development Center provide services to Agnico Eagle's various Canadian and / or international mining operations in a variety of areas, including administration, financial services, IT, supply chain, human resources, communications, construction as well as technical services (geology, engineering, metallurgy, infrastructure, marketing, innovation, and digital transformation).
YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Lead, the Mechanical Resident Engineer will be part of the Engineering team within the Ontario Construction Group and will work closely with various mine site departments to support the successful execution of capital projects.
The successful candidate will contribute to all phases of project development, from engineering and procurement through construction, commissioning, and start-up. This role requires strong technical knowledge, effective coordination skills, and a proactive approach to project execution while promoting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety standards, Code of Conduct, and environmental commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support engineering consultants and external service providers involved in project development activities.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to ensure technical alignment and project objectives are achieved.
- Ensure all engineering information, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation are effectively transferred to the construction team.
- Participate in project phase transitions, including engineering-to-construction and construction-to-operations handovers.
Provide technical support and problem-solving assistance throughout all stages of project execution.
- Participate in and support project procurement activities.
- Consider procurement requirements and constraints for projects and major equipment packages.
- Assist in contractor coordination and follow-up activities.
Track contract changes and support contract administration efforts.
- Develop construction execution sequences in collaboration with project management and site stakeholders.
- Coordinate with project teams and contractors to support efficient project execution.
- Conduct field inspections during key stages of construction to verify quality, progress, and compliance with project requirements.
Support commissioning and start-up activities to ensure successful project delivery and operational readiness.
- Monitor project budgets and schedules for assigned projects.
- Identify and communicate any budget or schedule deviations to the engineering and project management teams.
- Collaborate with the Project Controls team to maintain and update project schedules.
- Maintain accurate and current schedules for ongoing construction activities.
- Support project reporting and progress tracking activities.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience, including a College Diploma with relevant engineering experience, will be considered.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the mining industry.
- Experience supporting industrial or mining capital projects.
- Knowledge of project development and execution processes is considered a strong asset.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and consultants is an asset.
- Strong project coordination and organizational abilities.
- Demonstrated change management capabilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly:

- Word
- PowerPoint
- Language Requirement: The official working language of Agnico Eagle’s Ontario operations is English.

- Combination of presence at the Project Team Home Office (CSDRN) and on-site assignments, depending on project requirements and construction activities.
Work Schedule:
5 days on, 2 days off.
In accordance with applicable legislation, the expected compensation includes base salary and potential bonus opportunity. Your individual pay will reflect your skills and experience while remaining competitive within the local market.
