In this role, you'll:

 


Work within the ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) team, solving routine problems and escalating complex issues where needed. You will also ensure strict adherence to WHS and environmental requirements, applying procedures and best practices to minimise risks and support safe, compliant project delivery.

Carry out a broad range of labouring and non-trades construction and maintenance duties, including the use of small plant, hand tools, and driving light/heavy vehicles to support operational activities.


The Technician Assistant Grade 2 will also be responsible for:

• Performing a wide range of routine and complex labouring/manual tasks, including the use of a variety of small plant and powered and non-powered hand tools to assist with the completion of work activities.

• Conducting safety checks on all plant used, completing basic maintenance such as refuelling and checking fluid and maintaining records and reports to ensure the safe use of plant items.

• Solving routine problems that arise, referring to standard guidelines and manuals and collaborating with supervisors and managers to resolve complex problems to ensure risks are minimised and work goals are achieved.

• Providing guidance to team members, leading the work output of a small unit as required, to develop capability and ensure team tasks are completed effectively.

• Understanding and maintaining knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and procedures, assessing and controlling risks, record management and industry requirements to minimise risk and model safe work behaviour.


This is an ongoing full-time role located at Waratah.

TfNSW take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be eligible for this role it is a requirement that you must reside within a reasonable distance from the Waratah Depot.

About you

 


You are a reliable and safety-focused professional with experience in labouring or construction environments. You are capable of working independently with minimal supervision while contributing positively to a team.

You have strong practical skills, including the use of tools and equipment and communicate effectively with team members.

You demonstrate sound judgement in following procedures, solving problems, and guiding others when required. Experience supervising small teams will be highly regarded.

You hold a current Medium Rigid (MR) driver’s licence, White Card, and relevant safety certifications, or are willing to obtain them, and are committed to maintaining safe work practices and continuously improving your capability.
