Summary

Under direct supervision, performs a variety of Nurse Practitioner duties according to Nurse Protocol Agreement with Delegating Physician. This is a part-time position working up to 29 hours per week during health department hours with the possibility of occasional after-business hours work. This position is not eligible for benefits and will be a floater for the 10 county health departments and the HIV clinic.

Qualifications
  • Provide primary and acute healthcare across the lifespan through assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses and injuries using evidence-based practice
  • Provide wellness exams to include women’s gynecological and reproductive
  • health care
  • Perform sports physicals
  • Perform DOT physicals (must be certified)
  • Develop comprehensive plans of care using evidenced based medicine to include patient medical data, health history, progress notes and results of physical examination
  • Perform therapeutic procedures per protocols and professional experience including but not limited to injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care
  • Administer, order, and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-ray, electrocardiogram and laboratory tests
  • Instruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens and health prevention/maintenance
  • Prescribe appropriate therapy or medications per protocols
  • Obtain physician approval for therapy or medications not based on protocols
  • Examine patients to obtain information about their physical conditions
  • Assist with other programs and services in the clinic and offsite
  • May be asked to precept nurse practitioner students when available






Supplemental informationPreferred Qualifications:  Family Nurse Practitioner with 2 years of Primary Care experience.
