Purpose

Worley is currently looking to fill an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager position to provide mechanical engineering and project management services within the Mechanical and Materials Handling Group in the Worley Consulting business.

The successful candidate will support and lead the delivery of mechanical engineering projects, including front-end studies, site inspections, facility layouts, equipment selection, technical documentation, and coordination of engineering deliverables. This role will involve working with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

This position will be based in our Vancouver, BC, Canada office. 

Responsibilities

Working collaboratively with senior engineers and subject matter experts, the successful candidate will:

  • Lead and perform functional and conceptual design of materials handling systems and mechanical facilities for ports, marine terminals, mining, industrial, and related projects.

  • Develop and review site layouts, equipment arrangements, equipment selection, and preliminary equipment sizing.

  • Prepare and oversee technical documentation including specifications, scopes of work, design criteria, operational descriptions, reports, and engineering deliverables.

  • Perform and/or manage site equipment inspections, load tests, and operational/motion checks.

  • Review and coordinate vendor and subcontractor documentation, drawings, and technical submissions.

  •  Coordinate engineering activities between mechanical, process, civil, structural, electrical, and other project disciplines.

  • Support preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, work plans, and project execution strategies.

  • Manage engineering work packages including scope, schedule, deliverables, and budget requirements.

  • Support contract and cost administration activities.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.

  • Promote and actively support a safety-oriented culture.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders.

  • Travel to project sites as required.

 

Technical and Industry Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • 5 - 7 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, including experience delivering consulting engineering projects.

  • Experience with materials handling systems, including conveyors, transfer systems, bulk handling equipment, or related industrial equipment.

  • Experience with ports and terminals, mining operations, industrial facilities, or similar environments is considered an asset.

  • Experience leading engineering work packages, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and managing project deliverables.

  • Experience preparing engineering documentation including specifications, scopes of work, technical reports, and equipment documentation.

  • Strong project management, organization, and prioritization skills.

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

The salary range for this position is $102,211 to $150,310 CAD.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
