The ideal candidate should specialize in cloud security, primarily AWS, and work consultatively with the Information Security and Cloud Engineering teams. Key expertise should include:
• AWS security services, including Identity and Access Management (IAM roles, policies, federation), network security (VPCs, security groups, NACLs, VPC Flow Logs), data protection (KMS encryption, S3 bucket policies), security monitoring (GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail), authentication (Cognito), application protection (AWS WAF), and secure access services (Systems Manager, Secrets Manager, Certificate Manager).
• Ability to drive proof of concepts for existing and emerging AWS or Azure services as business needs evolve.
• Ability to lead architectural discussions and ensure cloud solutions are designed for successful deployment.
• Strategic thought leadership on enterprise cloud security posture, including the use of emerging AI technologies and the management of evolving AI-related risks.
• Experience developing reference architectures for AWS security services, recommending security processes and configurations, and building strong cross-functional relationships. This is primarily an advisory role with minimal hands-on implementation, requiring the ability to translate security requirements into clear architectural guidance.
- Key Responsibilities
• Use appropriate design techniques and methodologies to conduct proof of concepts, present outcomes to senior leadership and stakeholders, and drive alignment through clear rationale.
• Develop current and future-state architecture roadmaps.
• Align and promote enterprise technology principles and strategy.
• Contribute to and author application and capability strategies.
• Establish, maintain, and apply architecture standards, disciplines, and principles.
• Design external system interface architectures using appropriate techniques and standards.
• Define integrated hardware and software architecture solutions that meet performance, usability, scalability, reliability, security, and business requirements.
• Maintain deep expertise in architectural modeling, frameworks, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
• Mentor and develop less experienced technical staff and provide technical leadership during both business-as-usual and crisis situations.
• Recommend new procedures and processes to drive successful outcomes across diverse projects.
• Conduct industry research, engage with external partners, and maintain professional networks.
• Partner with architects and application development teams to ensure alignment across portfolios and promote an enterprise-wide approach to application management.
• Build strong relationships across business lines and use effective communication skills to influence and achieve strategic architecture objectives.
- Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
• 10–15 years of relevant experience.
• Strong hands-on engineering experience with AWS cloud security services, including identity and access management, network security, data protection, and security monitoring, along with prior cloud delivery experience.
• Knowledge of enterprise-wide architecture and the ability to understand how current and future technologies fit into the broader landscape.
• Internal and external consulting experience that includes influencing technology and business leaders across organizational boundaries.
• Experience in the architecture, design, implementation, and support of complex enterprise solutions.
• Exposure to diverse technical environments, technologies, and process improvement initiatives.
