Senior Technical Officer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 536976) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biomedical Science or related disciplines. Qualification as a Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist Part II would be advantageous. They should be familiar with molecular biology techniques, preferably with experience in next-generation sequencing and single-cell analysis. They should also have knowledge of bioinformatic analysis of whole exome sequencing data, and be capable of handling computer hardware specifications, installation, and troubleshooting. Proven experience in quality assurance, managing in-house analysis pipelines, data storage, transfer, security, and protection is essential. Experience working in clinical laboratories, and/or supporting and managing accreditation processes is considered a plus.
The appointee will perform genetic tests on samples from subfertile couples and their embryos. He/She will work mainly in the preimplantation genetic laboratory and may provide support for other diagnostic tests at the University’s teaching hospitals. Working on weekends/public holidays will be required.
