Responsibilities

The Assembly/Test Manufacturing Engineer 2 will create, document, develop, and implement procedures required to assemble, test, process, and manufacture the products of the company

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Providing engineering support in production department to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Develops written manufacturing planning, Assembly and Testing plans (ATP’s) in accordance with appropriate drawings and specifications
  • Works closely with production operators, supervisors, and other functional teams to continually improve product flow and quality and provide training as necessary to ensure technicians understand the testing requirements.
  • Initiates, evaluates, and implements process improvements.
  • Understands manufacturing capacity and capabilities planning.
  • Evaluates and develops manufacturing processes by:
    • designing and conducting research programs
    • demonstrate and train proper build processes and techniques as required to support assembly and testing personnel.
    • set-up and run hydraulic testing procedures to validate usability of instructions
    • applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials
    • conferring with equipment vendors
    • soliciting observations from operators.
  • Designs and develops tools (physical and analytical) to assist and improve production processes.
  • Can review engineering pre-release top assembly & sub-assembly drawings, parts list and ATP’s (assembly and test procedures) for compatibility, correctness and completeness prior to formal release.
  • Have the ability to troubleshoot failures on a top assembly’s and determine cause. Write work instructions to support partial disassembly, correct the issue, and then re-assemble.
  • Have the ability to write rework instructions for components found to cause top assembly / sub-assembly failures, track occurrences for repeat offenders.
  • Provide Estimating bids for top level builds, sub-assemblies and required tooling (NPI).
  • Understand and develop BOM structure for MRP system. Knowledge for when to use special part number structure (such as partial builds like “U” (unfinished part numbers)) to support best manufacturing practices for top assemblies.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to safety policies, contributing to risk mitigation management teams, and keeping all work areas clean.
  • Contributing to team effort by maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Continuously striving to find ways to make manufacturing process more efficient and effective
  • Contributing to the overall effectiveness of the assembly department through a supporting role in FOD, 5S, TPM, PM, and initiate Process Improvement programs.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                               
Minimum:
•    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent required
•    Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
OR
•    Associates degree in an engineering field with 3+ years of on-the-job experience.
OR
•    5+ years of manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering in a similar and/or related industrial environment. 

Basic understanding of the following preferred:
•    Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
•    Precision measuring devices
•    Part drawings/blueprints, dimensioning, and tolerancing 
•    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
•    Computer skills consisting of excel, CAD/CAM, Quality Management Software (), Enterprise Resource Planning and related business software
•    Ability to read and interpret customer specifications
•    Hydraulic systems knowledge
•    Understanding of Bill of Materials and parts lists

Must meet ITAR regulations regarding citizenship requirements.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Working Conditions:
Physical requirements of routine machine shop work as shown below, also: 
voice, vision, hearing, and dexterity.
8 hours/day standing or walking

Salary: $75,000 - $110,000 plus bonus
