About the Role

Reporting to the Lead HR Business Partnership, the Specialist HRBP is a site-based role that partners closely with operational leaders to deliver pragmatic, high-impact people solutions.

 

The role has a strong focus on Industrial & Employee Relations (IR/ER), workforce productivity, and building leadership capability to drive engagement, culture, inclusion, and talent outcomes aligned to business priorities.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Support IR/ER activities execution at site, including risk mitigation, and ensuring strong bargaining preparedness through data-driven insights and leader readiness.
  • Coach and support leaders to confidently manage their teams, strengthening capability in engagement, performance, inclusion, and ER matters to drive consistent and effective leadership practices.
  • Partner with leaders to embed sustainable engagement and inclusion practices, aligned to WAIO and enterprise I&D strategy, translating insights into actionable plans that shift behaviours and improve culture outcomes.
  • Identify and deliver workforce productivity opportunities partnering with leaders to optimise performance and drive value across the operation.
  • Support talent management practices including succession planning, and development, ensuring strong pipelines and outcomes aligned to current and future business needs.
  • Build trusted relationships across the site and broader organisation, influencing outcomes across diverse stakeholders including operations, HR Centres of Excellence, and HRBPs across WAIO.
  • Apply a strong understanding of the BHP operating model and site context to improve decision-making, strengthen execution, and contribute to 100% safety, 100% customer value, and 0% waste.
About You

 

  • Proven HR experience in complex, operational environments, with strong exposure to IR/ER and workforce challenges
  • Demonstrated capability in coaching leaders, influencing decisions, and driving behavioural change
  • Experience supporting or contributing to bargaining processes and building leader readiness
  • Strong track record in engagement, culture, inclusion, and talent outcomes
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to link people initiatives to productivity and business value
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, build relationships, and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced, site-based environment
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Human Resources, Psychology, or related discipline (desirable)
