Job Title: EHS Specialist

 

Your Role:

Provide Safety & Environmental and Industrial (Occupational) Hygiene, assistance to site management in the prevention of occupational injuries (and illnesses) and emissions to the environment. Assist site management in ensuring compliance with environmental, occupational hygiene and safety regulatory requirements.   Under general direction, develop and implement projects and procedures to improve health & safety and environmental performance, improve regulatory compliance position, improve processes and minimize liability. This position possesses most technical skills of Safety Specialists/Engineers, Environmental Specialists/Engineers and Industrial (Occupational) Hygienists.

 

In this role, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct and ensure competency in site risk assessments, identify risk reduction strategies, and collaborate with management to implement controls for high-risk work (e.g., LOTO, confined space, hot work, process safety).
  • Maintain, monitor, and audit the site’s comprehensive EHS Management System while preparing internal and external regulatory reports and documentation.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, build site inspection competency, and maintain routine communication with management and personnel on all EHS matters.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate adult EHS training programs, ensuring personnel competence across safety, health, and operational procedures.
  • Oversee emergency response planning, drills, fire detection/suppression, and life safety systems for security, fire, chemical, medical, and natural disasters.
  • Ensure compliance with air and water emission quantification/control standards, as well as hazardous solid waste control and disposal practices, especially for chemical manufacturing.
  • Apply principles of industrial toxicology, industrial ventilation, occupational disease prevention, musculoskeletal disorder prevention, and hygiene sampling/assessments.
  • Manage specialized safety fundamentals, including electrical safety/arc flash, construction safety, loss control, lab safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) programs (including respiratory protection).
  • Lead root-cause accident/incident investigations, implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and apply basic statistical analysis to monitor EHS performance.

 

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Master’s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Safety Management or other Engineering Science discipline.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Certified Safety Professional.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist.
  • Experience with Industrial and Chemical Safety.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.   

 

Pay Range for this position: $67,700/yr - $121,400/yr
The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
