The Role

This is a hands-on leadership role at the heart of our laboratory operations. As Sample Receipt Co-Ordinator, you'll be the critical link between our clients and the laboratory - ensuring samples move through the lab efficiently, accurately and on time.

 

You'll lead a team of staff, overseeing everything from sample intake and work order prioritisation to client communication and quality compliance. If you thrive in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment and enjoy leading a team that takes real pride in their work, this role is for you.

 

The Day to Day

  • Supervise and support Sample Receipt staff in their daily duties to exceed in departmental KPIs
  • Manage staff scheduling, shift planning and annual leave to maintain consistent workflow
  • Perform regular 1:1s, uphold performance standards and recruit new staff as required
  • Oversee the accurate and timely creation and prioritisation of work orders
  • Serve as the primary contact for client and inter-laboratory sample receipt communications
  • Coordinate inbound interstate and international freight
  • Oversee sample storage, disposal, subcontracting and client returns
  • Facilitate training and development of new and developing team members
  • Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with relevant QWIs and quality standards
  • Uphold HSE policies, quarantine requirements and current state OHS legislation
  • Deliver on projects and report on KPIs and improvements in a quarterly business review

The Essentials

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a laboratory, environmental or related industry setting
  • Proven supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail with excellent organisational abilities
  • Client-focused mindset with a genuine commitment to quality service
  • Ability to problem-solve and resolve issues calmly and effectively
  • Experience in an environmental or analytical laboratory environment
  • Familiarity with sample receipt, chain of custody (COC) and work order systems
  • proactive approach to continuous improvement and team development
