Hiring Salary Range: $20,800 - $21,091  Full Salary Range: $20,944 - $26,335 Annually

 

Work Schedule: 20 hours weekly, Tuesday - Friday 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM, with occasional weekend or evening event hours.

Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:

The Education Support Assistant (Clerk) assists the education/programming staff with clerical duties and provides support for volunteer/docent activities, including backup as a front desk welcome person and program docent.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Preparation of invoices for the bookkeeper.
  • Maintenance of daily activity reports and entry of visitor data for statistical reports.
  • Coordinate and maintain the Traveling and Trouped Trunk programs, including scheduling docent volunteers and preparation and cleaning of the trunk materials.
  • Assist at the front desk welcome center as needed and serve as backup for docent volunteers.
  • Assist with public programming weekend events and volunteer hospitality events.
  • Assist with the maintenance and organization of education areas.

The selected applicant must possess great communication skills to ensure consistent high-quality customer service to a diverse visiting public and school populations, including students and teachers. Competencies required for the position are knowledge of museum or educational activities and safe work practices. The person in this position must be detail oriented with organizational and data entry skills and the ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to perform the physical duties of the job and be able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.

This position is Non-EXEMPT and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Less than 1 year of related experience 


An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):

  • 1+ years of experience in an educational setting working with teachers and students
  • 1+ years of data entry experience
  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office
  • 1+ years of museum education or school education experience with elementary school students
