SummaryThis position is responsible for assisting in the coordination of sports programs, senior events and special events. He/she will prepare recurring reports and records and makes serval decisions weekly requiring some interpretations and judgements. The position has daily contact with the public which requires simple courtesies and exercise of tact and diplomacy. The position has continuous services to the public frequently involving sensitive matters demanding utmost tact and resourcefulness. Examples of dutiesOrganizes, promotes, and implements sports programs and training.Monitors and ensures safety of the participants in the programs, trainings and camps.
Maintains inventory control of all equipment; ensure equipment is maintained for current and future programs.
Monitors indoor sports complex facility to ensure playable and safe conditions; report repairs as needed.
Works and deals with the public in a courteous and diplomatic manner.
Handles all information desk traffic; learn sports programs, and implement policies.
Responsible for opening and closing of facilities as deemed necessary.
Attends training workshops and staff meetings as required.
Maintains all necessary records for preparing annual and special reports.
Enforces rules and regulations of indoor sports complex facility.
Provides clerical support, program registration, answer telephones, and maintain correspondence with other county department or agencies.
Assists in recruiting, training, supervising, directing and evaluating seasonal staff, instructors, volunteers and participants.
Posts press release of sports events, training and programs.
Work with partnership agencies on special projects.
Performs all other related duties as required. QualificationsGraduation from a high school or equivalent.
Related experience required.
Certificates, Licenses and Registration:
Must have a current valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s license.
Must be able to be insured by the County’s insurance carrier. Supplemental informationKnowledge of record keeping procedures.
Bilingual (Spanish and English) with the ability of converse fluently in both languages.
Must possess excellent writing skills and must be capable to operating Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of proper safety practices, procedures and regulations applicable to work being performed.
Secretarial skills, typing, and computer usage.
Must have good command of the English language including usage, spelling, and grammar.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English and Spanish.
Ability to be organized, efficient and confidentiality.
