Plumbing Draftsman
A Plumbing Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings and layouts for plumbing, drainage, water supply, and firefighting systems in residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The role involves converting engineering designs and specifications into accurate CAD drawings while ensuring compliance with project requirements, local regulations, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed plumbing and drainage drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting software.
- Develop shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings for plumbing systems.
- Interpret engineering designs, specifications, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with mechanical engineers, architects, structural engineers, and project teams to resolve design conflicts.
- Prepare material take-offs and assist in quantity estimation.
- Update drawings based on site conditions, revisions, and client requirements.
- Ensure drawings comply with local codes, standards, and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and drawing records throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project teams during installation and commissioning phases.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other drafting software.
- Strong understanding of plumbing, drainage, water supply, and firefighting systems.
- Knowledge of construction drawings, building codes, and industry standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
Experience:
- Typically 2–5 years of experience in plumbing drafting for construction or MEP projects.
- Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial building projects is preferred.
