Since 1978, Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas has delivered quality clinical and surgical services to San Diego’s North County. About the role:
The RN Clinical Mentor functions primarily as an RN with additional duties.
Takes responsibility for assigned patients during RN relief periods.
Works collaboratively and educationally with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care.
Takes responsibility for education and guidance of Registered Nurses regarding the nursing process, critical thinking, accountability for the plan of care and its relation to patient outcomes, and communication/collaboration with all team members.
Functions as a clinical expert, role model, mentor, and resource in a designated practice area.
Works collaboratively with the Charge Nurse, Educator and Manager of that area to develop a learning environment for the caregivers, as well as a service, outcome and care oriented environment for the patients.

· Minimum three years experience in an acute care setting preferred.
· Minimum two years experience in the specialty area preferred.
· Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English.
· Excellent interpersonal skills.
Required Certification/Registration:
· Current California RN license required.
· Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
· NIHHS Stroke Certification within first six months of employment required.
Required Education/Course(s)/Training:
· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or the equivalent preferred.
