The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.

Role Description:

The Facilities and Drone Custodian is responsible for the accountability, maintenance, security, and administrative oversight of aviation facilities, infrastructure, and assigned Unmanned Aircraft Systems UAS. The incumbent ensures facilities and drone assets are properly maintained, inventoried, secured, and available to support aviation operations in accordance with INLA, Embassy, contractor, and host-nation policies. 

Key Responsibility:

  • Maintain accountabilities for all facilities, buildings, hangars, warehouses, offices, and support infrastructure assigned to the INL Air Wing Program. 
  • Collaborates with Operations and Maintenance Managers and Safety, identifies facility needs, and obtains necessary details to develop proper plans and scheduling. 
  • Coordinates with Environmental, Safety, and Health staff for compliance with OSHA and ADA. 
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and identify maintenance, repair, and safety deficiencies. 
  • Coordinate facility maintenance, repairs, and improvement projects with contractors, government agencies, and local vendors. 
  • Maintain records of facility inspections, work orders, service contracts, and maintenance actions. 
  • Monitor utility services, including electrical, water, fuel, communications, and backup power systems. 
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, fire prevention, and occupational health requirements. 
  • Manage storage areas and ensure proper accountability of government-furnished property and contractor-owned equipment. 
  • Assist with facility construction, renovation, and infrastructure projects as directed. 
  • Support emergency response and contingency planning for aviation facilities. 
  • Maintain facility access-control procedures and coordinate security-related issues with appropriate personnel. 
  • Performs handyman tasks and physical hands on work including minor repairs, installations, and moving furniture and equipment. 
  • Maintain accountabilities for all assigned UAS platforms, payloads, batteries, chargers, spare parts, support equipment, and associated components. 
  • Conduct pre-use and post-use inspections of drones and associated equipment. 
  • Perform routine maintenance, software updates, firmware updates, and battery management in accordance with manufacturer guidance. 
  • Maintain drone maintenance logs, flight records, inventory records, and custody documentation. 
  • Ensure drones are properly stored, secured, transported, and protected from environmental damage. 
  • Track equipment serviceability status and coordinate repairs, warranty actions, and replacement requirements. 
  • Assist host-nation drone operators in preparing aircraft and equipment for operational missions. 
  • Monitor flight-hour utilization, maintenance intervals, and lifecycle management requirements. 
  • Ensure compliance with INLA policies, host-nation regulations, and aviation safety procedures governing UAS operations. 
  • Support training events by maintaining training equipment and preparing aircraft and support materials. 
  • Conduct periodic inventories and reconcile property records for all drone-related assets. 
  • Prepare reports concerning drone utilization, maintenance status, inventory discrepancies, and operational readiness. 
  • Serve as the primary custodian for assigned government property and equipment. 
  • Maintain accurate asset-accountability records and support annual inventory requirements. 
  • Coordinate logistics support for facilities and drone operations. 
  • Support audits, inspections, and property-accountability reviews. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Aviation Advisor SAA, Deputy Aviation Advisor DAA, or Program Manager. 

Qualifications 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three 3 years of experience in facilities management, logistics, property accountability, aviation support, or UAS operations. 
  • Knowledge of inventory-control and asset-management procedures. 
  • Familiarity with commercial drone systems and associated support equipment. 
  • Ability to maintain records, prepare reports, and manage multiple priorities. 
  • Working knowledge of safety standards applicable to aviation and facility operations. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish. Valid drivers license and ability to travel to remote operating locations as required. 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications. 

Preferred 

  • Experience supporting aviation operations, U.S. Government programs, or Department of State contracts. 
  • Experience managing government property, facilities, or aviation-related infrastructure. 
  • FAA Part 107, host-nation UAS certification, or equivalent drone qualification. 
  • Experience supporting drone training, maintenance, and operational programs.
