The Manufacturing Laborer is responsible for performing surface preparation, blasting, finishing, and protective coating applications on manufactured components to meet quality and production requirements. This hands-on role involves operating blasting, painting, and material handling equipment; interpreting work instructions and specifications; and ensuring all finished products meet applicable standards for quality, safety, and appearance. Successful candidates will have a strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while supporting the production of high-quality industrial products.
Location: Turtle Creek, PA (Onsite)
Shift: 1st or 2nd shift (9:30 AM – 7:00 PM, 9/80 schedule) or 3rd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality surface preparation and protective coating applications using metal finishing equipment
- Set up, operate, and maintain blasting, surface preparation, paint spraying, and protective coating equipment
- Interpret technical requirements for surface preparation and coating applications
- Verify surface finish and coating quality to applicable specifications and standards
- Work from drawings, work orders, and production instructions
- Record production time and work completed on forms and computer systems
- Handle materials using cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment
- Perform routine equipment adjustments and preventive maintenance
- Mark material identification as required
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, communicate work status, train personnel as needed, and perform other assigned duties
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Prior experience in an industrial spray painting operation preferred; automotive painting experience is a plus
- Previous experience with work order computer data entry systems preferred
- Knowledge of surface preparation, industrial coatings, and finishing techniques
- Ability to operate blasting, painting, and material handling equipment safely
- Ability to interpret drawings, work orders, and coating specifications
- Ability to wear required PPE including respirators and powered air systems
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and at heights in hot, cold, and dusty environments
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to safety
