Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position in the Maintenance department, based at the Goudini Distillery. The successful incumbent will report to the Maintenance Team Leader.

 

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

  • Efficient operation and control of coal and Biomass boilers on a shift basis
  • Facilitate ash removal when required
  • Ensure optimum coal/biomass availability and supply to the boilers
  • Perform analyses of boiler processes and reporting as required
  • Active participation in departmental TPM activities (Continuous Improvement)
  • Responsible for effective housekeeping in work area
  • Assist in general maintenance and risk control
  • Ensure compliance to SHERQ requirements of the site
  • Ad hoc duties as and when required

 The successful candidate must have the following attributes, qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Boiler Operator Certificate for coal boilers and biomass biolers, preferably from John Thomson
  • At least 1 year Boiler operating experience
  • A relevant technical qualification will be advantageous
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Must be in good health and able to cope with physically demanding activities associated with this position
  • Willingness to work long, irregular hours on a rotating shift basis (weekends and public holidays included)
  • Computer literacy would be advantageous
  • Must have own, or access to, a reliable mode of transport to and from the workplace
  • Punctuality and attendance reliability
